Local companies paint it pink for cancer society

A number of high-profile companies with links to the region are set to paint it pink as the Irish Cancer Society launch this year’s official ‘Pink Partners’, highlighting companies that are joining forces to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Society this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Among them locally include Granard's Kiernan Milling which had committed to donating €1 from the sale of their 25kg bag of Buffalo Beef Nuts sold between now and the end of October, and the Zip Yard, which has a premises in Cavan Town.

Ireland’s leading clothing and alterations boutique will, among other initiatives, again be generously donating 50% of sales on Friday 30th October to the Society, and Boots and Centra stores nationwide, the latter of whom will be selling limited edition Justinas Alisauskas designed tote bags for €3.

Other companies nationally involved in supporting the 'Paint it Pink' campaign include Ballyfree Eggs, Barry’s Tea, Boots Ireland, the Chanelle Group, Cloud 10 Beauty, Dairygold Co-Op, Digiweb, ghd, GAA Jewellery,, Prestigious Textiles Ireland / SLX, and Tropical Popical.

All the money donated by this year’s generous ‘Pink Partners’ will go to the Irish Cancer Society’s work against breast cancer – funding research, advocacy and free, nationwide services for those affected by breast cancer all over Ireland. Receiving less than 5% of income from government funding, the Irish Cancer Society rely on public support and the backing of organisations like our ‘Pink Partners’ to fund vital services. The 2015 corporate ‘Pink Partners’ will all be doing something different, from wrapping silage bales pink to offering a special paint it pink manicure!

John McCormack, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society said: “The Irish Cancer Society is delighted to welcome these fantastic brands and organisations on board as our 2015 Pink Partners. As an independent charity, we rely on support from the business community and the public to continue the work which we do.'

Most recent figures from the National Cancer Registry of Ireland show that over 2,800 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland every year. We are committed to providing vital, free services to breast cancer patients and their families to support them during their cancer journey. We are also funding breast cancer research to find better ways of diagnosing and treating breast cancer which in turn will improve the outcomes of breast cancer patients.
