Cavan and Monaghan groups to benefit from €33K under Environmental Partnership Fund

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, has today (Friday) welcomed news that 38 groups in Cavan and Monaghan will share in €33,000 in funding under the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. The grant scheme promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at a local level.

The projects are being co-funded by the Department of Environment and Cavan and Monaghan County Councils. 20 projects will benefit in Cavan, while 18 will benefit in Monaghan. The groups include a number of local Tidy Towns committees, development groups and community garden projects.

'This scheme helps local small scale environmental projects which make a real difference to their environment. It supports groups such as local Tidy Towns Committees and Development Groups, so I am very pleased that 38 groups across Cavan and Monaghan are benefitting.

“As well as funding from the Governments and the local authorities, the successful applicants also contribute funds raised locally, which is a partnership approach to investment. The scheme is aimed at relatively small projects, but these groups have a really positive impact on local communities.

“These groups deserve to be commended their dedication to improving their communities,' said Minister Humphreys.
