VIDEO: GAA Board play 'get out of jail' card

There was shock and horror at Monday night’s monthly Cavan county board meeting when four Gardaí entered the meeting and the chairman and treasurer were 'arrested’.

Mobile phones across the county were hopping and there was a predictable storm on social media before the board announced that it was all part of a hoax to promote an upcoming fundraiser!
The 'Jailbreak’ fundraiser will take place on March 18, 2016 and entails 50 people spending 24 hours in Crumlin Road prison, Belfast. Participants will raise €3,000 bail money to be released.
“It definitely had a great impact, the interest in it has been phenomenal,” smiled county board chairman Gerry Brady, who was 'arrested’ along with Martin Cahill by the off-duty Gardaí.
“We’re delighted with the response to the launch and we’re hoping that people will be very generous when it comes to sponsorship for the event itself.”
The news was broken to delegates that the 'arrests’ were just a stunt shortly after the pair were led out.
