Gardai in Carrickmacross are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney this morning at approximately 6am.

Both male drivers of the two trucks involved were fatally injured. 

They were the sole occupants. One of the bodies has been removed from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, the other one remains at the scene.  

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. It is expected that the road will remain closed for the next number of hours.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Carrickmacross Garda Station on 042-9690190, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
