€900K for local authority housing in Mullagh

The Department of Housing has approved €901,268 for the construction of eight local authority housing units in Mullagh, Co Cavan.

Confirming the allocation, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Heather Humphreys said: 'This will allow for the construction of eight local authority housing units in Rosehill in Mullagh under the Local Authority Housing Construction Programme.

“It is positive news to see the Department of Housing investing in our local housing stock. Cavan County Council is being notified of the funding allocation today and I hope work on the new units can get underway as quickly as possible.'

The Minister added that Fine Gael is committed to addressing the housing challenges in Ireland and an Action Plan for Housing is being developed with input from all the key Government departments. 'Its focus will be to boost all types of housing supply, both social housing and housing for the private market,' she said.
