Bishop Leo O'Reilly, Diocese of Kilmore.

New appointments in the dioceses of Kilmore and Clogher

A number of appointments have been made in the Diocese of Kilmore; while some parish boundaries have been adjusted. The changes took effect on September 1. While in the Diocese of Clogher, three new parish priests are to be installed as parish priests over the next two weekends.

Statement from Bishop Leo O’Reilly. Bishop of Kilmore:

Fr Phil Brady, P.E., C.C. Cross, is to retire.
Fr Tom McManus, P.P. Corlough/Drumreilly Lower, is taking sabbatical leave.
Fr Ultan McGoohan, currently on study leave, is now Diocesan Director of Pastoral Services and part-time curate in Teemore.
Monsignor Michael Cooke P.E has been appointed Diocesan Director for the Diaconate Programme.

ADJUSTMENT OF PARISH BOUNDARIES IN THE BALLINAMORE DEANERY AREA
A change in parish boundaries will take effect on 1st September 2016 which will affect the parishes of Templeport, Corlough/Drumreilly Lower and Oughteragh (Ballinamore).
The parish of Corlough/Drumreilly Lower was created by the amalgamation of the parishes of Corlough and Drumreilly Lower in 1964. Corlough parish had earlier been part of the Parish of Templeport up until the year 1877, when it became a separate parish.
The Corlough area of the parish of Corlough/Drumreilly Lower will re-establish its connection with Templeport on 1st September 2016. The new parish will be known as the Parish of Corlough/Templeport.
The Drumreilly Lower part of the parish of Corlough/Drumreilly Lower will join the parish of Oughteragh (Ballinamore) to become the parish of Ballinamore/Drumreilly Lower. This change will take place on 1st September 2016.
I wish to express publicly my deep appreciation for the co-operation and understanding of the parishioners of the parishes concerned, and in particular the members of the Parish Pastoral Councils and Finance Committees, in the consultations regarding this change. I trust that this change will enable all the parishioners in the parishes concerned to continue to receive the pastoral care and services they have been accustomed to, despite the fall in the numbers of priests available for pastoral ministry in the diocese.

New parish priests in Monaghan
Meanwhile, in Monaghan, Bishop Liam MacDaid has also installed three new parish priests.
Fr John Flanagan has been appointed PP in Errigal Truagh; while Fr Padraig McKenna has been assigned in Trillick and Fr John Chester in Roslea.
These appointments took effect on the weekend of September 3-4. Over the subsequent two weekends, these three priests will be formally installed and given canonical possession of their churches and parishes in a simple ritual that takes place during the celebration of Eucharist.
This Friday, September 16, at 8pm in the Church of the Most Holy Family, Ballyotion, Fr John Flanagan will be installed as PP of Errigal, Truagh. On the following evening, Fr Padraig McKenna will be installed as the new PP of Kilskeery (Trillick) at the 8pm Vigil Mass in St Macartan’s church. On Saturday, September 23, Fr John Chester will be installed as PP of Roslea at the 6.30pm Vigil Mass in St Tierney’s church, Roslea.
The Rite of Induction takes place after the proclamation of the Gospel. Following a short homily by the bishop, the new PP makes a Profession of Faith. The bishop then formally inducts him into the parish and confers upon him the office of pastor of the parish in accordance with Canon Law and the tradition of the Church. He is then presented with a Lectionary containing the Word of God that is proclaimed during liturgical celebrations and a key of one of the parish churches. These symbolise the responsibility of the parish priest to preach the Word of God to all, to nourish the People of God with the sacraments and to govern and administer the parish in collaboration with fellow priests and the entire people.
All are welcome to attend and participate in these liturgies, marking both new beginnings and continuity in the life of these parish communities.
