Smyth hosting coffee morning for SOSAD Cavan

Cavan/Monaghan Deputy Niamh Smyth is bringing mental health to the fore at Fianna Fáil headquarters in Cavan tomorrow (Monday), October 10, which marks World Mental Health Day.
She and others will be hosting a coffee morning at the Paddy Smith House Church Street, Cavan from 10.30am to 1pm in aid of the Cavan branch of SOSAD (Save Our Sons And Daughters).
Commenting on the event, Deputy Smyth said: “People are beginning to talk and seek support but more people need to reach out. I would like members of the community, to come into Paddy Smith House on Church Street in Cavan, have a cup of tea and a chat and more importantly come together on this issue.”
She’s calling on the government to increase funding for mental health services in this constituency. “There is a serious shortage of community based services for people who are in distress and seeking help particularly at weekends,” she said.
Deputy Smyth added that the Fianna Fáil party is seeking an additional €37.5m in this year’s budget (and in each subsequent budget) for additional resources to meet the needs of a vision for change. A key area we are seeking is money spent on is the provision of 24/7 access to community care.”
Christine Wynne of SOSAD Cavan will also be in attendance.
