EXCLUSIVE: First 'Taste of Cavan' Christmas for Market Square

Cavan Town centre will host its first-ever Christmas market next month in the inaugural ‘Taste of Cavan Christmas’. Running for six days from Friday, December 16, until Wednesday, December 21, the market on the Market Square is the first offshoot of the hugely popular Taste of Cavan Food Festival.
It is being organised by Cavan County Council, in conjunction with the Cavan Chamber of Commerce.
The market will feature eight festive wooden cabins hosting local food and craft suppliers such as Moran’s Homestore from Ballinagh, Áine Handmade Chocolate from Stradone and ice cream treats.
On the Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoons, there will also be cookery demonstrations by leading Cavan chefs including Norbert Neylon of the Oak Room, Gearóid Lynch of the Olde Post Inn, Cloverhill and BBC ‘Great British Menu’ star Eddie Attwell of St Kyran’s County House, Virginia.
Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Tommy Ryan, told The Anglo-Celt that the market would help to generate a festive atmosphere around Cavan Town, with the eight stalls drawing custom into Cavan and complementing existing traders in the town centre.  “This initiative will provide shoppers with yet another reason to make the trip into Cavan Town to shop local and avail of the fantastic offers our traders have on offer,” he said.
There is still some limited availability for local festive craft exhibitors to take part in the market and enquiries should be made to mtierney@cavancoco.ie or by called 087 7802049 or Eddie Coleman, President, Cavan Chamber on 049-4378104 or 086- 8447678.
