Boil water notice lifted in Ballyhaise

The boil water notice that has been in effect on the Ballyhaise public water supply since October 14 has been lifted with immediate effect.
Irish Water and Cavan County Council have issued a statement to notify all 748 effected consumers of the development on the scheme, which is served from the Annagh Group Water Scheme.
It reads: 'Following advice from the Health Service Executive (HSE), the boil water notice imposed on the supply on October 14, 2016, is now lifted with immediate effect.
'Customers can now resume normal use of the water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth. Consumers whose water systems have not been in use since October 14, 2016, should ensure that they flush out their systems by running their hot and cold taps for a period of at least 30 minutes before resuming normal use of the water supply.'

The boil water notice was put in place due to the detection of coliform bacteria in the Annagh Group Water Supply, which supplies the Ballyhaise Public Water Supply and was in place to protect the consumers on both supplies.

A programme of flushing and monitoring was implemented across the network to ensure that a safe and reliable source of water was restored.

'Irish Water wishes to acknowledge the efforts of Cavan County Council, the Annagh Group Water Scheme and the co-operation of the HSE in lifting the notice. They also acknowledge the patience, cooperation and assistance of the general public during the period of the boil water notice and greatly regret any inconvenience caused to householders, the farming and business community.'
