'Black Friday' weekend in Cootehill

The Town of Cootehill has been a fine shopping centre for decades and is well placed to deliver on all consumer needs this festive season with amazing choice and value.

This weekend will see a big discount drive across the weekend (Friday to Sunday) with retailers participating in a major 'Black Friday’ promotion.
A broad spectrum of shops have come together to deliver on this town promotion with some items available at half price!
The assistant secretary of Cootehill Chamber of Commerce, Sean Argue, says that this weekend sees the town enthusiastically embrace the 'Black Friday’ promotion with great bargains in all the participating shops right throughout the weekend - from Friday, November 25 to Sunday, November 27.
“It worked very well last year and we hope to build on that success this year. Every business in the town is involved and we feel it will bring people into the town. The reductions in the shops run right up to 50 per cent and most shops will be open till 7pm,” he outlined.
The Cootehill Chamber is urging all in the community to 'shop local’ this Christmas and support local businesses and jobs.
Big switch on
The chamber has pulled out all the stops to create a positive and festive shopping experience for all. The magnificent new lights are set to be switched on this year Saturday, December 3, at 6pm in the presence of Santa Claus.
Not only will Market Street be illuminated but there will also be lights on Bridge Street - all courtesy of the local people and the chamber. Santa Claus will be back in the market town the following Saturday, December 10, at St Michael’s Hall at 1pm.

Cootehill santa 'Best in Ireland’
The President of Cootehill Chamber, John Joe Lennon, says that the visit of Santa is heavily subsidised by the Chamber and a number of years ago the Santa in Cootehill was voted the best in Ireland by TV3 report.
There will also be loads of entertainment, including mini disco and face painting on the day. Santa will be in Cootehill come hail, rain or snow!
“It’s our way as a Chamber for thanking the people for shopping in the town,” said Mr Lennon.
