Final push to 'Reunite Cavan'

A final push is being made by The Anglo-Celt and political parties across the spectrum to urge people to get behind the Celt’s 'Reunite Cavan’ campaign and reunify the county for electoral purposes.
Petitions are available to sign in post offices in west Cavan towns and villages, which have been directly affected by the decision to include that area in a revised Sligo-Leitrim-West Cavan-South Donegal constituency, which now takes in 36 electoral divisions or some 13,000 people in west Cavan.
An online petition can also be signed at here and the process takes less than a minute.
The deadline for submissions to the Constituency Commission is January 10 and it is due to report on boundaries by June of next year. The Celt wishes to include all original signatures on the petition in a larger submission to the Commission.
Fianna Fáil’s Brendan Smith has said that the reunification of the county for Dáil constituency purposes is “essential for the future economic and social development of Co Cavan”.
He’s also encouraging people throughout the county to send their submissions directly to The Secretary, Constituency Commission, Room 1.65, Custom House, Dublin 1, D01 W6XO before January 10, 2017.
