Yellow weather warning as snow to continue

Rumours of the demise of winter may have been exaggerated with Met Eireann issuing a status yellow weather warnings. Following on from the snow fall overnight commuters have been warned to expect some dangerous driving conditions to continue as temperatures nationwide will drop to below freezing again overnight.

Forecast for today is that it will be a bright day in most areas, with sunny spells and showers, some falling as snow, but mostly of rain, hail and sleet during the day, some of them heavy, with isolated thunderstorms, especially in the west and northwest.

Met Eireann have issued the status yellow low temperature warning for Ireland tonight. They say it will be very cold with air temperatures falling down to -4 degrees Celsius. Predictions are for frost, ice and freezing fog. There will be well scattered wintry showers with locally light accumulations, with the eastern areas most at threat towards morning.
