Mullahoran NS to get additional classroom

The Department of Education has approved an additional classroom at Mullahoran National School, Kilcogy, Co Cavan.

The confirmation came yesterday afternoon from Minister for Rural Affairs Heather Humphreys (FG) who welcomed the allocation.

Welcoming the news, the Cavan-Monaghan Minister said: “I am delighted to have received confirmation from the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton, that his department has approved funding to Mullahoran National School to construct an additional mainstream classroom. 

'Mullahoran National School, like many schools, has seen an increase in enrolment numbers and the news that funding has been granted is indeed very welcome. 

'I know that this announcement will come as great new to staff, parents and pupils alike, and I hope to see work commencing soon.”

 

Asked to confirm the level of funding allocated, the minister's office said: “The Department of Education don't release the value of the allocations in case it might be detrimental to the tendering process.”

 

Delighted

The principal of Mullahoran NS, Fionnuala McGahern, has also welcomed the allocation. “We are delighted that we have received funding for a new classroom. Due to increased enrolment numbers, there is a necessity for more classroom accommdation at Mullahoran NS.

“We look forward to having the building project completed in as short a timeframe as possible.”
