Local hotel fire brought under control

A small kitchen fire is being cited as the possible cause of a fire which broke out at the Virginia's Lakeside Manor Hotel.

Emergency services were called to the scene to deal with the blaze at around 8am, which was brought under control soon after.

The fire however hamper visibility for motorists passing the area, with national traffic alert service AA Roadwatch warning of the potential hazard.

Motorists travelling on the N3 are being warned that visibility may be affected by smoke.

“Emergency services at building fire on N3 on Dublin side of Virginia. Visibility may be affected by smoke.”

The family run Lakeside Manor set on the shores of the beautiful Lough Ramor Lake is one of the most popular hotels in the county.
