Gardaí in Cavan have seized almost €50,000 worth of cannabis and cannabis plants following two raids on growhouses in the county in as many weeks.
Supported by the recently reestablished Regional Drugs Unit, detectives from the Bailieborough continued their crackdown on drug dealing and supply with the recent discoveries.
A male was arrested and a file has been sent to the Director of Prosecutions following the discovery of almost 40 cannabis plants growing at a residential property at Bailieborough at the weekend.
Gardai entered the property close to the town on July 8 where they found plants at various stages of growth with an estimated street value in the region of €40,000.
It follows too the discovery by gardai with the support of the local drugs unit of another growhouse, again at a residential property, near Virginia on June 30.
There officers found cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €9,000.
In both cases the persons arrested were released without charge, while files have been prepared and sent to the DPP.
