Council warning at spot flooding dangers

Cavan County Council have issued a warning to motorist in the south of the county amid heavy rainfall which is causing hazardous driving conditions.

Some very heavy or thundery downpours are likely at times, mainly in parts of Connacht and Ulster with local spot flooding.


A spokesperson for Cavan County Council notified that spot flooding has broken out on the Cavan Road outside Gowna “causing extremely hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are asked to avoid the area, and to exercise caution at all times, as Met Éireann status yellow weather alert remains in place until 9pm tonight.â€
