Gardaí appeal for dashcam footage to catch burglar

Gardaí in Cavan are appealing for any passer-by footage, either dashcam or cyclist mounted, which may lead to capturing the culprit behind a burglary in the Cavan Town area last week.

The incident occurred in the early evening, at around 7pm, last Friday, October 27.
The property burgled is located on the Cootehill Road, close to the junction with Cathedral Road, and gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

House burglary in Virginia

Meanwhile, Gardaí in the east of the county are continuing to investigate a burglary, which occurred in the Virginia area on Wednesday evening last week, October 25.
A house at Lisnabantry was entered by burglars between 8.30pm and 12 midnight.
Cash, jewellery, alcohol and chequebooks were taken during the break-in, and gardaí believe the offenders may have been travelling in a 4x4 type vehicle. The intruders are understood to have entered the property through a field at the rear of the house. Tyre marks in the field found afterwards suggest that the gang’s vehicle may have gotten stuck in mud as they attempted to make good their escape.
Anyone with information on either incident, for example footage in Cavan Town that may be of interest or a vehicle in the Virginia area with excessive muck on it, is asked to contact their local Garda station in confidence.
