Croagh Patrick to Ballinagh fundraiser tops €200K

Since the remarkable Croagh Patrick to Ballinagh challenge commenced in 2011, the participants have raised €205,000 for a number of charities.

The event this year raised a commendable €27,500, according to Ann Marie McPhillips. Four cheques, each amounting to €6,875, were handed out to four deserving causes at a presentation night in Cronin’s Bar in Ballinagh last Sunday night.
The recipients of the cheques were: Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin, SOSAD Cavan, Cavan Down Syndrome and the Irish Pilgrimage Trust Group No.166.
“We are delighted again this year that we are in a position to give so much to four great charities. We continuously get great support from all the cyclists and the climbers and it is great group effort and it is just fantastic,” said Ann Marie.

Next challenge

They are already planning next year’s event and the date has been set for Saturday, June 30, and it will be the eighth Croagh Patrick to Ballinagh challenge.
Ann Marie McPhillips thanked everyone who made the event this year such a success and also thanked the main sponsor, Paddy Sheanon from Breffni Air, who has been on board from the very beginning.
She also extended thanks to all their Associate Sponsors and Andrew Cronin, who provides the venue for their launches and presentations.
Ann Marie also thanked all the helpers, drivers, the cyclists and climbers and of course the general public for their wonderful support and generosity.
