Breifne Students making Christmas more affordable

A group of transition year students in Breifne College are setting out to make Christmas more affordable for families in Cavan. As part of the Youth Social Innovators scheme the group of six are hosting a shop in the College this Saturday, December 16. The shop is stocking toys donated to the students and selling them to families at more affordable prices to ease the financial burden on hard pressed families at Christmas. One of the students involved Brendan, says the group are keen to ease the Christmas burden, “Setting up the shop selling toys at cheap affordable prices will allow parents to maintain the magic of Christmas without breaking the bank”. Another student, Megan believes the costs of Christmas are high already without adding to them, “ we hope to at least take off some of the strain on parent who have to spend hundreds of euro on food, drink and décor for the Christmas celebrations “. In addition to helping people buy toys at more affordable prices any monies raised will be donated to the St Vincent De Paul. Anyone keen to help the project can donate toys and leave thenm at the College before Saturday. The shop will be open from 11am to 3pm, Saturday December 16.
