Extra garda for Mullagh

Mullagh Garda Station is set to receive a boost as an additional member will take takes up a recently assigned post. The Joint Policing Committee (JPC) meeting recently heard of the new full-time Garda to be stationed in Mullagh.

Speaking about the announcement after the meeting, Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane P O’Reilly said the new member will start at the station within the next fortnight, joining the garda already stationed there.
Cllr O'Reilly said: “Superintendent Leo McGinn informed me of the decision. This is a 50% increase in the Garda cover for the area. We used to have a massive Garda presence but that declined to one Garda stationed in the village.”
This announcement follows the allocation of a patrol car at the station the year before last. “This is fantastic news,” Cllr O’Reilly said, in light of the increasing population in the town.
