CELT Spring Watch- frog spawn appearing

The sign of frog spawn appearing in watering holes all over the county means Spring is now officially, and now the start of The Anglo-Celt's own Spring Watch.

With the weather starting to get a bit milder, the Celt will be keeping tabs on one burgeoning amphibious community that has sprung up in the front garden of one of our journalists.

The common frog, which is the only species in Ireland, is considered a threatened species by the Irish Wildlife Trust as many of their wetland habitats increasingly come under risk.

It remains illegal to collect frog spawn unless you are a member of the educational community and it is for educational purposes.

We'll be updating our website over the coming weeks as our spawn transforms to firstly to tadpole and finally frog.
