Gardai investigate theft of car from side of road

Gardai in Cavan are investigating the unauthorised taking avehile which had been parked at Annagh Lake after the owner suffered car trouble the night before.

The driver of the blue-coloured Volvo S40 had abandoned their vehicle after it stalled near Crahard, Belturbet on March 16 last.

The vehicle however, not by the owner's consent, towed away between the hours of 9pm that night to 10am on March 17.

Gardai have tracked the vehicle's path as it travelled hitched to the other vehicle from Annagh Lake to Drumalee, along the old Belturbet Road, turning right at Sugarloaf and left at Gannon’s cross towards Leggykelly. It is then believed that the vehicles crossed the border into Northern Ireland.

Separately, an 8 x 4 steel trailer with high mesh sides was also taken from a field near Belturbet, at Naughen between the hours of 5pm and 7am on March 12-13 last.

A generator was also stolen from the yard belonging to Cavan County Council at Drumsilla near Butlersbridge between 5pm and 11am on March 15-16.
