Elite athletes for Run With Catherina

An electrifying atmosphere is anticipated on the streets of Cavan Town this Saturday, April 28, as the Run With Catherina attracts elite runners, walkers and joggers from all over.

This is the second race in The Kia Race Series to take place. There are eight races in the series. Athletes must take part in five of the races,  including the finale in Mondelo Park, Dublin.  The overall winners of both the Mens’ and the Ladies’ races will collect a brand new KIA Stonic car for their efforts. There is also a €500 bonus for any athlete who breaks the course record. With such high calibre athletes competing it’s expected that records will be broken.

He was the recent winner of the first race of the 10km Kia Series in Portlaoise. Fellow Ethopian, Wishu Gebresellasie, who also runs with DSD AC, will be hoping to turn the tables on Hiko and collect his winner’s medal. Conan McCaughey, a Derry Track Club athlete, will also take part and cannot be discounted.
In the Ladies 10 km race Kerry O Flaherty, winner of the first race in the Kia Series, takes part again. Kerry, who competed for Ireland at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing, the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro is again one of the favourites. Cavan’s  renowned former World Cross Country champion and Olympian, Catherina Mc Kiernan is also in the line up.
Laura O’Shaughnessy, another DSD AC athlete, who finished 3rd in last week’s Great Ireland Run in Dublin’s Phoenix Park behind Kerry and Catherina, is another leading contender.
Registration is at The Orchard Bar, Drumalee, from 4pm on Saturday afternoon, April 28th. Entries are also possible online here.
