Doctors and Lawyers for Choice call for Yes vote in Cavan

Cavan Pro-Choice will host an information night as part of the National Together for Yes Campaign later this evening (Thursday), at the Cavan Crystal Hotel, from 7pm.
Addressing issues surrounding the referendum in the run up to May 25, speakers at the event will include: Dr. Tiernan Murray (Doctors for Choice), Sinéad Williams (Lawyers for Choice), Carly Bailey (Parents for Choice) and Kieran Smith (Terminations for Medical Reasons).

Kieran, a supporter of Cavan Pro-Choice, took part in the Cavan Monaghan launch of the Together for Yes campaign earlier this month. From the floor he shared the moving story of his family’s experience after Grace, their unborn baby, was diagnosed with a fatal foetal abnormality.

Kieran’s wife Tracey also shared from the audience of last weekend’s Late Late Show where she told Ryan Tubridy: “A yes vote would mean Grace could rest in peace and I would have to stop constantly tying to tell her story.”

Cavan Pro-Choice organiser Nikita McHugh said: “We in Cavan Pro-Choice are so thankful to Kieran and Tracey and all of the other brave people that have shared their stories during this campaign. The sharing of personal experiences has been played a huge part in convincing undecided voters to vote Yes for repeal. They demonstrate to people that life is not black and white as we sometimes see it. Until people hear these stories they may be simply unaware of the ways in which the 8th amendment can intrude upon the lives of women and those close to them. Excellent work compiling these personal stories has been carried out by the online group ‘In Her Shoes’.”

The group are encouraging anyone interested in the National Together for Yes Campaign to follow Cavan Pro-Choice on Facebook, while for those not on social media, a limited run of a booklet copy has been printed by the group and can be ordered at cavanprochoice@gmail.com.
