Brendan secures his spot on X Factor Tour

A singer with Cavan blood has secured his spot in the live semi finals of the X Factor and also a place on the X Factor tour 2019.
Brendan Murray, whose dad is from west Cavan, sailed through to the penultimate round of the popular TV talent show with his rendition of 'Say Something' by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.

The Galway native released an emotional video tweet in the past hour thanking all of those who voted for him to give him a place in this weekend's semi final show.

Say Something

Meanwhile, you can view his live performance from last Saturday night's show here:

And it certainly seems like he cracked it with mentor Louis Tomlinson of One Direction Fame as all judges last Saturday night agreed that it was the perfect song for the Tuam lad.
The voters agreed too – putting him through to the sixth week of the show.
It's a big turn around for the apprentice plumber who found himself in the bottom two just two weeks ago and in a sing off for his survival.
Panel judges have previous said he has the “perfect Pop voice” and is “unique”.
Brendan's dad Frank is from Kildallan and himself a fine performer having toured the showband scene in his day. Brendan still has relatives living in Cavan, his uncle Noel Murray and his cousins the Clarkes and Cassidys who are all supporting him.
The voting number for callers from Ireland is different to what appears on screen. It is posted on the Virgin Media website during the live shows (see www.virginmediatelevision.ie/xfactorvote).
Admitting that he got off to somewhat of a “bumpy” start on the live shows, Brendan feels he is finally finding his true identity as a performing artist but notes the standard of the contestants this year is “ridiculously high”.
The X Factor continues this weekend on Virgin Media One.
