Gardai seek owners for seized property

A quad as well as outdoor and gardening tools allegedly stolen from the Bailieborough area earlier this month have been seized by gardai in Dublin.

The discovery occurred after members of the force stopped a vehicle towing a trailer in the Tallaght area during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 6.

Gardai subsequently recovered the quad, which is believed to have been stolen from the Bailieborough area on the night of Wednesday, December 5.

A chainsaw and hedgecutter were also recovered, but to date the owner has not been identified, and gardai are appealing to members of the public to come forward to identify the property of possible.

“It is likely these items were stolen in the same locality,” gardai said in a post on social media.

They added a reminder however on the importance of property marking, which is being rolled out across the county, and promoted heavily in recent times through the auspices of Joint Policing Committees and local community alert groups.
“It is difficult to reunite stolen property with its rightful owner unless it is marked. We recommend property is marked with the Eircode which is unique to every address. It is also beneficial to record serial numbers and photograph items of value.”

Anyone capable of identifying the chainsaw and hedgecutter is invited to contact the Detective Branch at Bailieboro Garda Station on 042 9694570.
