Cavan companies making waves down under!

Over $10M in Australian contracts for Irish companies, including Kingspan and Combilift, have been announced by the Minister for Business during a recent trade mission to Australia.

Minister Humphreys led the mission to Sydney, Perth and Singapore with 71 Irish businesses from the fintech, medtech, high-tech construction, agritech, emerging technologies and ICT sectors.

Speaking from Sydney, she said: “Firstly, Kingspan Insulated Panels have secured a $8 Million capex investment for a new state-of-the-art machine, which will operate at their factory in Greater Western Sydney.
“Secondly, Combilift have announced a contract with E Store Logistics, who are soon to become the second largest user of the Combilift Aisle Master product, and the largest private user across Australia and New Zealand."
Congratulating both companies, Minister Humphreys added: "Without a doubt, they prove that you don’t have to be in a big city to make a big impact."

The Monaghan Fine Gael TD emphasised the importance of market diversification in the context of Brexit.
“Irish companies exported to €253m to Australia last year - an increase of 43% over the past three years. Australia is a mature and highly developed economy that offers significant opportunity for Irish exporters.
“Some 320 Irish companies are now exporting to Australia and these companies employ over 25,000 people in Ireland. One hundred and forty of those companies have a physical presence in Australia employing around 1,000 people.
“Despite the long distance down under, the country’s open economy, significant infrastructure expenditure and strategic location at the doorstep of Asia has led many Irish companies to enter and perform strongly in the market," concluded Minister Humphreys.
