Garda killer extradition expected in "days"
Martin McDermott, who escaped from Blacklion-based open prison Loughan House earlier this year - eight months into a seven-year sentence for killing Leitrim Garda Gary McLoughlin - is, within days, due to be extradited back to the Republic of Ireland where he will serve out the remainder of his sentence.

'It's an in or out decision' - Bruton
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton was in the Farnham Arms Hotel on Friday night to host a jobs questions and answers session. That morning, national newspapers had carried the 'gaffe' story, in which Minister Bruton, when asked the day before on Today FM what the Government's Plan B was if the treaty is rejected, appeared to suggest that a second vote was possible on the Fiscal Stability Treaty referendum. The statement was later retracted with Bruton saying his remarks were made "in the heat of debate". Immediately after Friday's public meeting, and with Bruton running radically late, he granted The Anglo-Celt five minutes in the lobby of the hotel...

Today to mark the 38th anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, which claimed 34 lives. The Justice For The Forgotten group, which was formed in 1996 to campaign for truth and justice for the victims of the bombings, are holding a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial on Talbot Street in Dublin.

New theatre group offer an outlet for female writers
A new theatre group headed by three women is hoping to redress, what they say, is a gender imbalance in the drama scene in Cavan. The Moogles Theatre Company was founded in January by Alice Lynch, Catherine McKiernan-Ryan and Deirdre O'Reilly, as an outlet for the talents they honed while studying drama in NUI Maynooth a few years ago.
