Reflections with Ivan Watson: Whatever happened to that fresh start?

February is known as the most depressing month of the year. Any joy there was at Christmas is fast becoming a fading memory and there doesn't seem to be much else to cheer us up.

Add to that, the dashed hopes of that fresh start which we thought the New Year might bring and we can find ourselves in real need of cheering up.

Our Lord's Gospel parables might not have struck us as the obvious place to turn to for hope but I have been enjoying the hope that comes from one of these well known stories recently. Let me explain what I mean.
