True Lilywhite: Seanie Johnston, who played for Kildare against his old team-mates in Breffni Park last Sunday.
Dear Sports Editor,
A Lilywhite here!
Good article there today and most of what you write is correct.
I think you are incorrect though to assume that the ordinary Kildare supporter is in favour of this because we are not. Most people in the pubs in Newbridge on Saturday night were mortified with what happened on Saturday night with SJ's 45-second cameo, the hurling community aren't much happier either.
But what are we as loyal Kildare supporters to do, abandon the team we have supported through bad times and the few good time we have had? We will be up in our thousands Sunday week supporting guys like Johnny Doyle and Paudie O'Neill who have given their all to the Kildare cause. The unrivalled fun and joy I gain from following the Kildare team around the country has been taken away from me from an act of misguided judgement by the KCC and senior management team
As for online forums the less said about them the better.
Kildare county board have gone down this road but they have not done it in my name. Heads will roll before the year is out I have no doubt in that.
Loyal Kildare Fan
PS: We only reached one Leinster final...
