There was an attendance of over 100 at the annual general meeting of Cumann Seanchais Bhreifne, held in the Farnham Hotel, Cavan, recently Dr. F. P. E. Smith, Outgoing Chairman, presiding. In the course of his annual report, the Hon. Secretary, Rev. A. Leaden, stated that the membership was 530, and still increasing, leaving the Cumann, in a very sound financial position. A lecture, entitled " Myth and Monument in Breffne " was given by Mrs. M. Rogers, Portora Royal School, Enniskillen. It was announced at the meeting that Rev. K. J. Mitchell, C.R.P. will deliver a lecture on " Bishop Matthew Gibney 1837 - 1925 " in Kilnacrott Abbey Hall, on Tuesday next, 23 rd April at 8 p.m; Bishop Gibney was born in Killygoman, Killeshandra. He was educated in St. Augustine's Seminary, Cavan and All Hallows College, Dublin. He was Bishop of Perth, Australia from 1887 to 1910 and brought many Co. Cavan people to Western Australia.
