Cavan Archive News 25th July 1975

Two former school pals, both on holiday in this country from the USA, were reunited in Clones this week for the first time after an interval of 57 years. They are Sister Mary Edward, of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, now of Brooklyn, New York and Mrs. Kathleen Hynes, of Rockaway, New York, formerly Miss. Lyttle, of Annkilly, Clones. Both attended Glear NS, in Clones parish until Sister Mary Edward left it in the summer of 1918 and although they communicated by letter and telephone in the USA, they had never an opportunity of meeting until now. Sister Edward was formerly Miss. Aneilia Sherry. Mrs. Hynes is accompanied on the trip by her husband, Stephen, who is a native of Co. Limerick, and a retired New York subway official. Picture shows two former school pals exchanging greetings at the home of a friend in Clones, July 1975, issue 7731
