Pictured above astride the famous Cairn Bane East at Oldcastle is Benny Tobin who worked at the excavation of the site when some pottery, beads and cremated bones were unearthed and are now housed in Dublin Museum. The Cairn lies at 900ft. above sea level and on a clear day the view embraces nearly 14 counties from the Wicklow Mountains to the races in Leopardstown, from the Portarlington Station to the Cuilcagh Mountains. In the beautiful backdrop of the photograph can be seen Lough Ramor, and to the right of Benny but out of view is the Hags Chair which looks towards the whole of Cavan as if some Breffni man of old decided this was the sight that was most inspiring, and left his flagstone seat for the comfort of posterity, February 1975, issue 7712
