It seems quite incredible and enough to make you blink but there are scores of pheasants around Clones wearing spectacles. It is not that the birds have defective vision but because they have a propensity for smashing their own eggs. It is all happening on the game farm of 29 - year - old Joseph Goodwin, Clones, an expert on poultry rearing and the ' specks ' trick is so successful that he intends to expand his game production enterprise considerably. He has about 150 laying pheasants laying indoors with tree branches here and there to simulate conditions in the wild and the birds seem happy and are thriving.
