Our picture shows the farmhouse to Mrs. Delia Givney, Kill, Kilnaleck, which was completely destroyed by fire on Thursday night of last week. Mrs. Givney, who lives alone in the four roomed house was awakened around 12 o'clock midnight by the smell of smoke in her bedroom. She immediately went to the kitchen and found the ceiling there to be on fire. The fire was noticed by a neighbour, Mr. Owen Reynolds, who was returning from Kilnaleck at the time. He immediately called the Fire Brigade. Cavan Fire Brigade, which was on the scene in a very short time, prevented the fire from spreading ro the several outhouses and haybarn on the 23 acre farm, January 1973, issue 7605
