The Final Countdown for CGT

Sadly Cormac Kelly won't be part of Friday's final as Soul Boyz crashed out in week 11. See this week's Celt paper to get the low down on what all happened last weekend.

Now we're down to the last four - all music acts - of Christy and Mono, Harmony, Cavan Big Band and Brendan Jermyn. The four will be vying to impress the capacity Imperial crowd with three numbers on Friday; there is no theme, all songs are their own choice, two songs are to be new and one favourite that they have performed before over the course of the last 11 weeks.

By making it to the final, each act is guaranteed at least €1,000, but if they claim the title of Cavan's most talented they will scoop a whopping €7000.

With the judges powerless to intervene in voting proceeding, its all down to the audience and how they choose to votes to determine who will be crowned winner of CGT 2012.

Where will those votes come from could decide the outcome? Three of the four acts hail from Cavan Town and will divide the vote, while Christy and Mono come from Killeshandra and the brothers will rely on the strong support of their home town and surrounds to be in with a chance.

As votes are cast on your ticket stump, you can only vote once - so wherever you come from, choose wisely.

The Fourth Judge honestly doesn't know which 'favourite' track each act will sing on Friday, but her/his personal favourites for each:

"Christy and Mono should revisit their version of Kenny Loggins' 1980s classic Footeloose as they had the place bouncing.

"I thought Harmony's best song actually came last week with Amy McDonald's 'Where You Gonna Sleep Tonight' but they may not want to do it agian too soon. It's not an easy song to play on the guitar but Rebecca nailed it and the addition of Ben on percussion was a stroke of genius.

"For me the best song Cavan Big Band covered was the swing classic Mac the Knife, it allowed them to showcase what the band is all about.

"There's no question what Brendan Jermyn's best performance was - Robbie Williams' 'Let Me Entertain You' - complete with the outfit that I'm struggling to describe - a tight-tight catsuit?"
