Cannon and Ramsey are to play in Cootehill Ballroom on St. Patrick's night.

Cootehill Ballroom Dancing

Celebrate our national feast day in style at Cootehill Ballroom Dancing at the Errigal Country House Hotel. Cannon and Ramsey will play there next Wednesday, St. Patrick's Night, and it's sure to be a great night of music and dance.

The Hot Mikado

Transition year students of St. Patrick's College, Cavan are staging The Hot Mikado musical from Wednesday to Saturday, March 24-27, in the assembly hall of the school. Tickets are €12 and will be available from St. Patrick's college and Easons on Main Street, Cavan.

Paddy's celebrations covered!

Make a run for Cronins in Ballinagh next Tuesday night, March 16, and The Meadow View in Cavan on St. Patrick's Day (Wednesday 4-6pm)! Both venues are set to feature The Converse Allstars - a rock, blues, soul and funk cover band playing everything from James Brown to Prince.

The band steers clear of cliched covers and strives for a fresher approach. They're described as "an up-tempo, funky rock band that will have you dancing your socks off and leave you begging for more".

Band members include Ted Cronin, Ian Lonergan, Martin Hickey, Aidan Kenny and Peadar Carney. Galway-based, they're popular with young audiences, with one college ents organisers noting "I've never seen a dance floor fill quicker than when they opened with Kings of Leon's The Bucket".

Capture the energy!

With only two weeks to enter Bord Gáis Energy is encouraging students of all ages to get out and capture the energy around them this St. Patrick's Day by entering the Bord Gáis Energy Capture the Power schools photography competition. Imagination is the limit and prizes include Wii consoles, Canon cameras and iPods. Check out capturethepower.ie or call 01-5224800 for more information.
