Fortstock Festival are issuing a plea for Irish men. Statistics of ticket sales for the festival show 75% are women between the ages of 19 and 32. The orginisers at Fortstock would hate to disappoint any of these women so they are putting out a call for the men of Ireland to come on over to Clones this weekend and join in on the fun and not let the ladies down. On June 23 and 24 the Clones festival will host a veritable cyclone of over 50 Irish bands - it is undoubtably the most exciting Irish line-up ever. Unlike most outdoor music gigs, the weekend features something for everyone and will appeal to both young and old music lovers.
Headliners for this year's festival include The Rubberbandits, local superstar Ryan Sheridan and The stars of the Commitments featuring Kenneth McCluskey and Dick Massey. Aslan, who are celebrating 30 years anniversary, are headling the Sunday night.
The lads at Fortstock are pulling out the stops to make it a night to remember and have included other big names, including, Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy), Brush Sheils, Mundy, The Riptide Movement, Whipping Boy, The 4 of us, Pat Mc Manus (Mammas Boys), Dj Bez (Happy Mondays), Dirty Epics and The Strypes. Throw into the mix some local acts including Grainne Duffy, Clara Rose and the diversity of music is mind blowing. Not only are the organisers content with live music on three stages but the festival will also have its own games area, camping facilities for two thousand throughout the weekend they have even launched there own TV sation. Alison Canavan will be on site interviewing bands for the station all weekend.
For just €70 for a weekend ticket, including camping, organisers believe it's the best value for entainment year. To butcher Kavanagh, when the bicycles go by in twos and threes, it won't be Billy Brennan's barn they're off to - it will be Fortstock!
