Radioactive Grandma's debut album
"Some part of this makes me uneasy" goes the prophetic opening line of Radioactive Grandma's debut album. The eponymously titled album's exhilarating pace wrestles with the downbeat tone where minor chords are never far away - it's like being bombarded by stimulants and depressants at once. The end result leaves the listener palpitating, breathless, and feeling, well, a little uneasy. Dominated by driving, chopping guitars, this superb album demands the listeners' attention - it's not one to throw on when hosting a dinner party.
The ten track release rampages along at break neck speed, demonstrating the lads' keen ear for riffs - such as 'Another Wasted Line' - punched out on acoustic guitars with sharp electric guitar at times blitzing the sound, at other times, picking out melodies. Full of inventiveness, both in chord progression and rhythms, they bring to mind Futureheads.
