Pearse McGloughlin who plays the Widow's, Belturbet on Friday.
Renowned singer-songwriter Pearse McGloughlin is set to top the impressive bill at the Widow's bar in Belturbet on Friday.
The Sligo based singer is no stranger to the Origins session having played nearly every year since the musical movement formed in 2007, and always draws a good crowd.
Pearse's first album, Busy Whisper was warmly greeted by the critics with the Irish Times saying: "You can trace the narrative of McGloughlin's craft in the gentle brush-strokes of his songs and the quiet, powerful authority of his voice. For the most part, his songs are mellow and coated in several lush, strung-out layers of musical paint."
Yip I'm none the wiser either but Origins driving force Michael O'Brien insists he's a real talent, which is good enough for me. He's bringing a full band too so the place should be swinging. Check out the video below and see what you think.
Even better news is that the support alone would be worth heading down to the Widow's for - Lauren Guillery, you may have caught her before in the Cafe Sessions will be playing a set. The French singer, living in Dublin, comes armed with a distinctive voice, passion galore and bags of raucous tunes.
The O'Briens will also promise to play a couple of tunes individually and throw in a mini-WinterKing set.
As always, the Origins gig is free.
