Positives from Derry game suggest win on the cards

Val Andrews will be hoping to get one over on Donegal this Sunday in Kingspan Breffni Park.

Despite suffering a one-point defeat away to Derry last Sunday in their first match of the 2012 season, Cavan have plenty of reasons for optimism ahead of the visit of Donegal this Sunday (Kingspan Breffni Park, throw-in 2pm).

While Donegal have been something of a bogey team for Cavan in recent years, their surprising defeat to UUJ last Sunday in Ballyshannon reveals a lot about their approach to the McKenna Cup in general. Jim McGuinness explained after that match that his team had played a challenge game against Roscommon two days previously and while McGuinness didn't confirm it, The Anglo-Celt understands that the Ulster champions will play another challenge this Friday, thought to be against club side St Brigid's from Roscommon.
