Boost for Hyland as McKiernan and Keating feature in challenge

Cavan manager Terry Hyland will take some positives from the challenge match last Saturday evening in Munterconnaught against the Breffni All-Stars, not least the fact that Eugene Keating and Gearoid McKiernan - both of whom have been carrying injuries - were fit enough to play cameo roles off the bench in a comfortable win.

Keating limped off in the recent challenge win over Galway but showed no ill-effects on Saturday while McKiernan looked sharp on his introduction, scoring 0-2 in the 10 minutes he was on the field.

The county team won by 4-15 to 1-10, with Martin Dunne, Niall McDermott, Robert-Maloney-Derham and David Givney bagging the goals.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that Killian Clarke will travel to Boston for the summer and will link up with the Wolfe Tones club, as exclusively revealed in The Anglo-Celt a fortnight ago. Clarke lined out for the All-Stars against Cavan last Saturday.
