Alpha-Bet The letters drawn in last week"s draw were SPEQ and no one picked these as their winning letters so the jackpot rolls over to 6,400 next week. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Brendan Treanor Smithboro, Jessica Cassidy Corconnolly, Anna McCaffrey Lisnaskea, Philomena Coyle Ballybay and Simon O"Connell Clones. Congratulations to them. If you wish to play just pick up an envelope where you see the Alpha-Bet posters and ask yourself do your letters look lucky? It"s only €1 or £1 to play and whichever currency you play, is the currency we pay! Draw each Monday night in the golf club. Juveniles Professional Tuition The juveniles who have paid for professional tuition will continue their tuition on Saturday 22nd November and the following week. Please be prompt 9am! Ladies Winter League Week 5 sees the Cannibals maintaining their lead (163) but only by 10 points. Team Captain Mary Trant 16 points and Lynn Wheelan 15 points. In 2nd spot are the Pink ladies (153) (climbing from 4th spot last week) with a magnificent 19 points from Lorraine Brady (one of our new recruits) Well done Lorraine! and a steady 16 points from Rosita McCabe. The Iron Maidens (152) just one shot back, keep their 3rd place with Martha (just let me play with 3 clubs) O"Grady carding a magnificent 19 points and Irene Rooney a disappointing 14 (but, she put her card in!). 4th the inaptly named Lazy Bee"s (146) have really made a great effort and dragged themselves off the bottom of the league with Team Captain Marie Douglas carding a respectable 16 points and Ann Keating really doing her bit with fabulous 20 points Wow! Cathy"s Kittens (140) are off the bottom with 2 fine scores from Beatrice Crudden and Lady Captain Noreen McKenna both returning 16 points apiece. Now there is a lesson to be learned by the team in last position, Class Act (134) who plummeted from 2nd place to last spot because only one of their team returned a card, despite another team member scoring 10 points. Had that lady not been too embarrassed to return her 10 points the team would be in 5th. So ladies always return your cards! Anyway despite that hiccup, there is still time to make a difference with 4 weeks left in this competition (week 6 results next week). Remember ladies you must play at least 4 times over the 10 weeks to qualify for a prize. Ladies Party Night The ladies party night and presentation of matchplay cups, Golfer of the Year Birdie tree, Par Pyramid, GUI medals and silver spoon will be this Friday 21st November at 7.30pm. Please come along for this fun night and let your hair down! We would particularly like to see our new lady members attend. There will be a buffet, a few drinks and a lot of laughs.
