Cavan On Saturday and Sunday, 21st and 22nd March, the postponed Kilmore Cup qualifying round will take place.Choose partners, 32 pairs to qualify. On Thurday 26th March there will be an open 18 hole single stableford competition for ladies and gents . JUVENILES: The first Juvenile nine-hole competition of 2009 was held on Saturday March 7th, weather conditions were difficult however, 11 determined competitors braved the wind and rain to return some excellent golf scores. First place in the girls section with a net score of 26 shots was Yvonne Brady (54). Shane McDermott (28) was first in the boys section with a net score of 28 shots, including a birdie 2 at the ninth. David Maguire was second with a net score of 30. Prizes awarded relate to the amount of competitors in each section. There was no competition held on Saturday 14th of March, but there will be a nine-hole on Saturday March 21st, competitors must sign in for the competition between 8am-9.30am. Juveniles are reminded that care of the course is very important and they must replace their divots on the fairway and repair plug marks on the greens. All membership subscriptions must be paid before the 31st of March. If you have not paid by this date you are not covered by the club"s insurance and therefore should Cavan Ladies The winners of the qualifying round of the Irish Mail All Ireland fourball are Mary Malone and Phyl O"Reilly 35 points. Mary and Phyl will play Ballinamore (home venue) on Friday 20th March and we wish them every success. The second round of the Spring League is now taking place and must be played by the 31st March. Next Wednesday"s competition is the 18 Hole Breffni Shield Foursomes Qualifying round. Timesheet in Ladies Locker room. 9 Hole Repeater continues for the month of March. 2 best cards to count. Bent Elbow The Bent Elbow Golf Society first outing of the year takes place in the Headford Golf Club on Saturday 21st of March. Captain this year is Sean J Smith and he will be driving in at 10am and we would hope all members would turn out to support him. Our captain has eight courses line up this year, some we have played last year and some we havent played for a few years,so there is a good mix. Clones :--Harte Peate Winter League No final results just yet, the competition secretary is hard at work summing up all the scores over the past 8 weeks getting the final eight teams ready for battle. There is a 14 hole repeater in progress up to the 17th March, results next week. Next week end is a four ball better ball competition Sat/Sun 21st & 22nd March. Clones Golf Club hosts a music and talent night on Saturday night 21st March at 9.30pm admission free and supper available so if you think you have the X-Factor Clones Golf Club is the place to be. Alpha-Bet The letters drawn in last week"s Alpha-Bet were 'way out' and as no one selected EXIT the jackpot rolls over to 2,300 next week. The 5 lucky dippers each winning 20 were Avril Patterson Lisnaskea, Nessa McKenna Clones, Edmund Burke Scotshouse, Josie Kearns Cavan Hospital and Fabiola Martin Newbliss. Well done to them! The draw takes place each Monday night in the clubhouse around 9pm and remember the more tickets we sell the less likely subs are to increase. Clones Ladies Ladies the first 18-hole stableford competition of the season concludes on Thursday 19th March having commenced on Sunday last. The ladies that played last weekend were suitably shattered after the full 18 holes and they will be addressing their stamina levels immediately! Next week Sunday 22nd March and Thursday 26th March is another 18 hole stableford and will the prize sponsors ensure that their prizes are available please. Spring League Week 5 results and The Goodnight Girls still lead on 280 with the week"s contributors being Irene McConkey 19, Noleen McCague 18 and Kathleen Leonard 19. With high scoring consistency like that they will be hard to knock off the top spot. 2nd are team 4 with 267 and Team captain Vera Tighe headed up the scoring with 17 points, Lynn Whelan 16 and Martha O"Grady ..well now what happened to Martha, she must have forgotten her clubs or something as she only managed 14 points! The magnificent 7 are maintaining third place with 256 and team captain Catherine Farrell is absolutely thrilled for Maureen Lynch who carded 20 points, the best score of the week! Doli Maguire returned 18 and Catherine herself had 19 points another good week for the Magnificents! Captain"s Choice are in 4th position with 237 and Joy Cassidy had 18 points with Eileen Kerr and Lady Captain Teresa Fitzpatrick both carding 14 points. Still on the bottom of the table are Team 5 with 215 points despite good scores from Anne McCarthy and Eileen Maguire both 17 points and an uncharacteristic 13 points from team captain Rosita McCabe. The final week"s scores were not available at the time of going to press but I am reliably informed that there was only 3 points between the first and second placed teams on Saturday morning, the last day of the competition. What an exciting finish! The final scores will be in next week"s edition. Any ladies going to Rossapenna on the Lady Captain"s weekend away please ensure that you have paid your 50 euro deposit to Teresa as she paid on your behalf in advance. Thursday 19th is last day of Winter League and still all to play for, no outright winner so far. Presentation of prizes in Park Hotel on Wednesday, March 25, at 8pm. Crover House Golf Society The Captains Drive-In takes place on Thursday, March 26, at Mount Templer Golf Club. New members and visitors very welcome. Tee time reserved 12pm to 1.30pm. Dinner and presentation in Clubhouse. Belturbet Golf Club Winner of Week Three of Spring League was Brian O"Reilly with a score of 23 points (on a count back). Runner up was Frank Rudden with a score of 23 points. Week Four continues this week so come out and enjoy the good conditions and good golf. March monthly meeting will be held on Thursday night at 8.30pm. All committee are asked to attend. Membership fees are due, for details contact Jim McCauley.
