The Cavan senior team must plan without two members of the panel after they opted out of the squad, The Anglo-Celt understands.

With Kildare due to visit Kingspan Breffni Park for the fourth round of the NFL this Saturday, manager Terry Hyland must plan without a corner-back and a half-forward cum half-back for the clash.

It is understood that Cootehill defender Joshua Hayes, and versatile Kingscourt man Philip Tinnelly, have opted out of the panel. Hayes, a regular during the 2014 league campaign, has seen little game time this year – he is a medical student and is soon to sit exams.

Tinnelly captained the Cavan junior team to the Leinster title last year but missed out on the All-Ireland success as he featured off the bench for the seniors in the qualifier match against Roscommon.

Cavan have three points from as many matches in their first season back in Division 2 following their promotion last year.
