Roscommon await again in the qualifiers

Cavan resume their rivalry with Roscommon after they were this morning drawn together in the Qualifiers.

Cavan progressed into round two of the the qualifiers after a relatively straight forward win over London on Saturday afternoon. The 2-22 to 0-11 victory in Ruislip was overshadowed by the loss of key back, Rory Dunne to a serious ankle injury.

The Redhills man is waiting on an MRI scan but may be out for the rest of the season after dislocating his ankle in the second half. Killian Clarke, who would be in contention for the full-back berth in Dunne's absence, is also a doubt after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Roscommon meanwhile crashed out of the Connacht Championship with a shock five point defeat to underdogs Sligo.

Cavan of course faced Roscommon in Division 2 this, with the sides sharing the spoils. The Rossies however won promotion to Division 1 for the Allianz National Football League, their second promotion in two years.

Roscommon will look to bounce back from their shock Connacht semi-final defeat against Sligo as they renew rivalries with Cavan. The two met twice in the 2014 league, including the Division Three final, as well as in last year’s championship and this year’s league.

Roscommon have two wins, Cavan have one, and this year’s meeting in Division Two ended in a draw.
