Mchale unsure of cavan involvement for 2016

Outgoing Cavan selector Liam McHale is still unsure as to whether he will be involved with the Breffni senior side next season.

McHale's colleague on Newstalk, Colm Parkinson, surprised some Cavan fans when, in the context of another discussion on managers, he suggested on air in midweek that McHale may be available.

And speaking to the Irish Daily Star, the Ballina native stated that he does not know for sure what the situation is just yet.

“Terry has gone back as far as I know to be ratified by the clubs, and he rang me last week and said we’d sit down and have a chat. I don’t expect to hear for another week,” said McHale, who filled the position of forwards coach.

“I honestly don’t know what the situation is. I think they want me to go back for another year, but I’m not sure.”

McHale felt Cavan had made progress but he was disappointed at the manner of the defeat to Roscommon.

“I thought we underachieved,” he continued.

“We scored 1-17 and as a forwards coach I would be happy with that. You always say it, but the lads have improved.

“They are a very enthusiastic bunch of lads, but we didn’t perform against Roscommon, especially in the second half.”
