Terry Hyland will take charge of the Cavan senior footballers for next season, the county board confirmed last night.

The decision was announced today after the County Committee gave their backing at a meeting last night.
Hyland's back room team will consist of selectors Padraig Dolan and Kevin Downes who were also involved in 2015. Eoin Maguire will remain as strength and conditioning coach.

Forde steps down

A statement from the county board also confirmed that Anthony Forde has stepped down for personal reasons from the role of assistant manager/selector. He had held the position since Hyland's tenure as manager commenced in 2012.
A statement from the Board read: 'Cavan County Board would like to sincerely thank Anthony for his outstanding contribution and commitment to Cavan GAA as a member of management and a player for many years.
'Liam McHale will not be part of the management team in 2016 and we thank him for his services as a coach in 2015.
'All in Cavan GAA wish Terry, his management team and players every success in the upcoming season.'
The statement continued: 'Also, Peter Reilly has indicated that he is stepping down from the role of U21 manager. Again we thank Peter and his management team for their time and efforts over the last three years, winning two Ulster titles along the way.'
Three wins, three losses and a draw saw Cavan retain their Division Two status in the National League last year, having been promoted the previous season. They then endured a short sharp championship campaign. After narrowly losing to eventual Ulster Champions, Monaghan, they endured a disappointing defeat to Roscommon in the qualifiers.
This year Hyland and his team face into a particularly tough Division 2 where they are joined by four other Ulster sides - Armagh, Derry, Fermanagh, and Tyrone - along with Galway, Laois and Meath.
