EXCLUSIVE: Seanie's back in the Cavan fold

Seanie Johnston is set to return to the Cavan senior football panel, The Anglo-Celt can reveal.
The Cavan Gaels man hasn’t played for the county since 2011 but it is understood he has met with management and will return to the panel for the 2016 season. Johnston captained the county team in his last year on the panel before being dropped by Val Andrews and subsequently transferring to the St Kevin’s club in Kildare and throwing his lot in with the Lilywhites following a widely-publicised transfer saga.
With Johnston’s Cavan Gaels clubmate Martin Dunne having opted out of the panel for 2016, the return of the 31-year-old multiple SFC medallist represents an extra option for manager Terry Hyland.

It is understood the news has been welcomed by the panel and is being seen as a positive development. Johnston, who had met with Drumalee about the vacant manager’s position in recent weeks, underwent a fitness test early this week and it is believed he will link up with the squad with immediate effect.
