While there is one remaining candidate to be interviewed, speculation is mounting that Cavan county board have got their man.

It has been reported that Monaghan boss Seamus 'Banty'McEnaney is now to the front runner for the position of Cavan senior team manager.

However, The Anglo-Celt understands that it may not be a done deal after all.

It is understood that Scotstown manager and former Tyrone player Mattie McGleenan will meet a four-man county board delegation later today (Saturday) and depending on the outcome of the interview, he may well be offered the position.

A report in the Belfast Telegraph today stated that McEnaney will be confirmed as manager in the next 48 hours.

However, a source told The Anglo-Celt this morning that nothing is confirmed.

'It's between the two of them, it looks like a two-horse race but it's 100pc not confirmed yet,' said the source.
